How do you set up your Everykey?

There’s an Everykey app for each major operating system (Mac OS, Windows, Android, jailbroken iOS). Once you’ve downloaded the Everykey app, it will guide you through the setup process which takes less than a minute. You’ll be guided through the pairing process which requires you to hold the button on the top of the wristband, allowing Everykey to exchange encrypted information with your device. Everykey only has to be set up once per device. After setting it up, just wear your Everykey and it will communicate encrypted data with your device every time it’s nearby.

What is the battery life of Everykey?

Up to 30 days. Everykey uses Bluetooth Low Energy to communicate with your devices, which is an extremely power efficient wireless communication. After its battery runs out, you can charge Everykey using the included Micro USB to USB cable.

Is Everykey water resistant?

Yes, Everykey is water resistant.

What happens if it gets stolen?

You can easily deactivate Everykey at any time just by calling +1 (866) 798-5577 or logging in to your account at Everykey.com and reporting your Everykey as lost or stolen. Upon reporting a lost or stolen Everykey, your devices will immediately be notified not to unlock for your Everykey anymore. You could reactivate your Everykey if you find it, or order a new one at a discount with overnight shipping if it’s lost for good. All of your keys and passwords that you used before Everykey will still work while you wait for your new Everykey to arrive in the mail.

If I lost my Everykey and order a replacement, does it know my passwords?

Once set up, a replacement Everykey will be able to unlock your devices as well as log you into the same websites that your original Everykey could.

How do I access my devices and accounts if I lost my Everykey?

While waiting for us to overnight you a replacement Everykey, you can use your physical keys and passwords to access your devices and accounts.

What happens if my Everykey stops working?

Please contact us via phone or email.

Can I use it for things other than access control?

Everykey can work for any device that implements Everykey SDK. We hope that developers create solutions for access control devices as well as other applications like lights.

Where are my passwords stored when I use Everykey?

The passwords to your devices are never stored on your Everykey, Everykey is only used to verify that you’re in range of your device. Once your device identifies that Everykey is in range, it disables its security mechanism. Your passwords for websites are stored in an encrypted form on an Everykey secure server. The passwords are stored in an encrypted form that we don’t have a key to, only your wristband and devices hold the encryption key to decrypt those passwords.

How does Everykey work?

When Everykey is close to one of your devices, it sends out an encrypted Bluetooth Low Energy signal to your device. Your device will then decrypt that signal and disable its security mechanism if the signal is verified correctly. Once your Everykey goes out of range of the device, the device will re-enable its security mechanisms.

Does Everykey work on any website?

We developed the Everykey browser extension by testing it on hundreds of websites and although we can’t guarantee it to work on every website, our software has been able to work with every website we’ve tested it on. All major websites (Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, etc) work with Everykey. If you’re concerned about Everykey working with a specific website, contact us and we’ll test it out for you.

What operating systems does Everykey work with?

Everykey already works with Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks), Windows 8.1, and Android 4.4 (KitKat). We’re currently developing support for the remaining operating systems.

What browsers does Everykey work with?

Everykey already works with Google Chrome and we’re currently developing support for Mozilla Firefox and Safari.

Can I use Everykey with other password managers?

Everykey is able to pick up the passwords entered into the password field as you’re logging into a website, so if another application is filling in the password field, Everykey can identify that and store that password.

What happens if I have multiple accounts for one website?

You can set up multiple accounts for one website through the Everykey browser extension, the browser extension will then ask you which one you want to log in with.

How does Everykey unlock a physical lock (car door lock, house door lock, bike lock, etc)?

Physical locks with Bluetooth Low Energy can implement our SDK in order to use Everykey as an authenticator.

Can Everykey work as an authenticator for other applications (apps)?

Yes, mobile and desktop applications can implement our SDK in order to use Everykey as an authenticator.

Does Everykey require an internet connection?

Everykey does not require an internet connection to unlock your devices. Everykey does require an internet connection to log you in to your website accounts, (you couldn’t access your website accounts without internet).

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
